Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 9, 2026 · TeeUp LLC, Westfield, Indiana
TeeUp is a mobile app for organizing golf matches with friends. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. TeeUp is currently in a private beta using free play-money tokens — no real money is deposited, wagered, or paid out. We will update this policy before any real-money features launch.
Information we collect
- Account information: your name, email address, password (stored hashed), and optionally your phone number.
- Match and game data: golf courses you play, match schedules, scores you enter, and token wager amounts and outcomes.
- Token wallet activity: a ledger of play-money token balances and transactions. These have no cash value during the beta.
- Location data: with your permission, your device location — used to find nearby golf courses and matches, and to verify you are at a course during a match. You can decline location access; related features simply won't work.
- Invitation data: if you invite a friend by text message, we collect the phone number (and optional name) you enter so we can send that one invitation. We use it only for the invitation and rate-limit repeat sends.
- Device and diagnostic data: crash reports and basic device information (via Sentry) so we can fix bugs.
How we use it
- To operate the app: creating matches, tracking scores, settling token wagers, and showing balances.
- To send SMS invitations you explicitly request (via Twilio). Recipients can reply STOP to opt out of further messages.
- To verify match locations and surface nearby courses and public matches.
- To fix bugs, prevent abuse (rate limiting, duplicate-invite detection), and keep the service reliable.
What we don't do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share it with advertisers.
- We do not message anyone except invitations you initiate and notifications about your own account.
Service providers
We use a small number of processors to run TeeUp, each receiving only what they need:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting and encrypted backups.
- Twilio — sending SMS invitations (receives the recipient phone number and message).
- Sentry — crash and error reporting.
- Expo — app build and update delivery.
- GolfCourseAPI — course search (receives search queries and coordinates, not your identity).
Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. To delete your account and associated personal data, email hello@playteeup.app from your account email; we will complete deletion within 30 days, except records we must keep for security, dispute, or legal reasons. SMS invitation records expire and are cleaned up automatically.
Your choices
- Location access is optional and controlled in your device settings.
- SMS recipients can reply STOP at any time to stop messages.
- You may request a copy, correction, or deletion of your data at the email above. Depending on your state (including California), you may have additional rights, which we honor for all users.
Age requirement
TeeUp involves simulated wagering and is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS), passwords are hashed, and production data access is restricted. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users of any breach as required by law.
Changes
We'll post updates here and update the effective date. Material changes (such as real-money features) will be announced in the app.
